It’s me again. I’ve been really busy since my last post working on my next novel, a post-apocalyptic horror. It is the first book of what is expected to be a four-book series. I will be telling you more about it in the next few weeks as I get closer to finishing. I don’t want to give away too much too soon, but I’m very excited about it. I have also been working on a loose outline of my third novel while editing this one. It’s more supernatural than horror or suspense, but I’m excited to expand outside of my genre.
What else have I been doing besides writing? Reading, of course. I have recently begun reading and reviewing more horror books for my fellow authors. I try to help out when I can, and I would like to see more well-written self-published novels. I recently read and reviewed Time Loopers, written by David Hambling, Byron Craft, Matt Davenport, and John DeLaughter. I posted my review on both Amazon and Goodreads for anyone interested. It is a sci-fi horror about time travel, and I was pleasantly surprised. I am trying to expand my horizons and haven’t read too many science fiction books. It was a good book, in my opinion, and well worth the purchase.
I also started reading an old favorite, Richard Laymon. A few pages in, I realized I had already read the story. I love re-discovering hidden gems and this was one of them. Island is a fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat, no holds barred, thrill ride that I highly recommend if you haven’t read it already. I also started reading Jack Ketchum’s Off Season. This one I haven’t read yet, but I’m excited to jump right in. I’ve heard it was a good book. We shall find out soon enough.
In other news, I received my first five-star review on Amazon for my new release, No Escape. I really appreciated the rating but wish the review was longer. I would like to get as much feedback as I can for my first novel to help me improve my craft. I still have some ARC copies available for anyone interested. You can contact me on my website or Facebook page. I am still planning to post a teaser for the novel, but it will have to be next week. It will be a chapter that was cut from the original draft from the point-of-view of one of the side characters in the novel. I can’t wait to share it with everyone.
Thanks for taking time out of your busy day to read my blog. Please stay tuned as I will try to make at least one blog post per week, but don’t quote me on that. I can’t control it if I get caught up my own novel. I love writing, and I plan to keep doing it for as long as I am able. Thanks for joining me on my journey through self-publishing and possibly traditional publishing in the future. -E.B.
