Not everyone can say they got a hurricane for their birthday

Hey guys. Hope everyone had a great weekend. I had a birthday last week and was planning for a beach vacation, but unfortunately the trip was cancelled because of Hurricane Laura. It wasn’t the first time I got a hurricane for my birthday, and I’m sure it won’t be the last. In spite of the cancelled trip, I still had a great birthday and got to spend time with my family. We went to my favorite Mexican food restaurant, which was a real treat. It was the first time we’ve went out for dinner since the pandemic began. And the best part? A jumbo margarita with my name on it.

I’m still making steady progress on my second novel. If all goes according to plan, it should be ready for publication in October. I’m on chapter fourteen now. This is my first time writing a complete novel without an outline. I have a vague idea of where the story is going, but some of my characters keep changing it up. Already one of the characters has been infected. I knew it was coming, but it wasn’t supposed to happen for another few chapters. Now, the race is on and the clock is ticking for that particular character. I’m on the edge of my seat myself, waiting to find out what’s going to happen.

Okay, it’s time to spill the beans. If you haven’t already guessed, my next book will have zombies. I know, I know. Everyone says they have been overdone. But honestly, I can count on one hand the number of good zombie books there are. Most of them suck, and this frustrates me because I absolutely love zombies. In my novel, the zombies aren’t dead. It’s a virus that changes people and causes violent behavior. The story revolves around one woman as she tries to protect her son during the initial outbreak. I have three more books planned for the series. The only thing more I will say is that it will be unlike any other zombie book I have read or heard of, but you don’t find out a lot about the virus until the third book.

I have also decided to blog more often. I will now be posting twice a week, once for updates and another for book reviews. The reason I decided to do this is because I read too fast, and I’ve noticed I haven’t had time to blog much about what I’m currently reading. And that sucks because I’ve been reading some really good books. I generally read between three and five books a week. I will be posting again in a couple of days to share what I’ve been reading. That’s all I have today. Have a great rest of your week and thanks for stopping by. -E.B.

After endless rewriting and plugging plot holes in my novels, I’ve stopped writing without an outline, and have since thought out all possible scenarios and explanations before starting.

Wishing you all the best for your new writing schedule and this novel!
