Do you know what I love the most about the horror community? The sense of being a part of something bigger than yourself. Not only that but the support you receive along the way, from other authors, horror fans, book reviewers, and sometimes even random strangers. We all love horror, and for the most part, support and help each other out along the way. Even though we’re on our own paths as writers, there is a sense of camaraderie between us.
I recently listened to an episode of the “Written in Red” podcast that really inspired me. For those that don’t know, “Written in Red” is the horror reader and writer’s podcast hosted by four amazing authors: Aron Beauregard, Daniel Volpe, Carver Pike, and Rowland Bercy Jr. What I love most about the podcast is the invaluable advice they have for beginning authors like myself. They also spotlight other authors in the indie community and share some of their favorite reads. It’s great getting to know some of my favorite authors. I highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t yet.

I’ll admit, I’ve been a little swamped lately with arm wrestling and my home life. I’ve also been helping other authors with their stories. I recently edited an extreme horror novella that blew me away. I can’t wait for the author to get it published. It’s the best feeling in the world, helping someone make their work even better, but sometimes I get pulled away from my own writing. Listening to the Written in Red Podcast reminded me that I’m an author, too, and I have a series to finish.
Speaking of which, I’m happy to announce the second book of the “Haven or Hell” series is almost finished. It took longer than I thought it would, but I’m happy with the way it turned out. While I’m working on the cover and final edits, I’ve started working on the final book of the series. Or should I say trilogy? I wasn’t sure how long the series would be when I started, but now I’m fairly certain there will be three books. I’m going to wait and publish the last two novels together, hopefully within the next few months.
Other than that, I don’t have much to share. I’m currently reading Aron Beauregard’s Yellow and will be posting the review very soon. I love Aron’s writing style, and Yellow may just be my favorite book by him so far. I can’t wait to tell you more about it.
That’s all I have for today. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe. -E.B.
