Author Interview: Allisha McAdoo

Hey, guys. I’m happy to announce that I finished one of my short stories last night. I’m super excited about this one. It was described by one of my beta readers as ‘a dark and disturbing story, visceral and truthful, and could be taken from the headlines of any newspaper.’ I think the story came out even better after a little polishing up. It will be my first time submitting a story to a publisher, so wish me luck!

Alright, enough about me. I have another author interview to share with you. For today’s interview, I spoke with Allisha McAdoo about her latest release, Twisted Sideways.

Allisha McAdoo has been writing since a young age. While most kids grew up and went outdoors or to parties, she would write. Allisha writes all types of horror, mostly favoring extreme horror. She has several books available through Amazon for Kindle and paperback. She’s currently working on a few new projects as she continues down this path. Keep your eyes open as she becomes more well-known and produces more to come. You will find that she develops characters that will pull at your heart strings or make you feel a certain way. Before you know it, you’ll be addicted to her twisted stories.

EB: Welcome, Allisha. Thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us more about your latest release, Twisted Sideways, and what inspired you to write it?

Allisha: Twisted Sideways is an extreme horror book about a doctor and his patients in a mental institute called Ember Oaks. This particular book really ties all my other stories together (long and short) as well as brings in my famous villain, Mr. Rumple. Mr. Rumple is my dark take on the Rumpelstiltskin stories. I got the inspiration because I have always loved fairy tales but not the ones from today. I loved the original ones, which were dark and gory. Twisted Sideways is available on Kindle Unlimited and in paperback:

EB: Where do you get the ideas for your stories?

Allisha: Most of my stories are me dealing with my past demons, or my current everyday stress. To me, writing is therapeutic.

EB: I feel the same. What’s your next project, and where can readers learn more about you?

Allisha: My next project is Corpse Prison, which is an extreme horror story that once again brings Mr. Rumple into play. It’s full of twists and turns. I am also writing a young adult comedy called Absurd Witch under the pen name Allysha McAdoo. (I didn’t want the youngsters to accidentally find my extreme horror books, hence the different spelling of my name.) You can learn more about me by my author page on Amazon:

EB: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

Allisha: I started writing at a very young age. I think around 4 or 5 years old. It started off as a project for school, and I fell in love with writing. My teacher at the time thought it was too dark for someone my age, so I wrote a shorter version without any horror in it. After that, I wrote all the time in journals, on walls, on my hands. Whatever I could find to write on.

EB: What does your family think of your writing?

Allisha: The important people in my family are very proud of me. They support me by buying my paperbacks, although none of them have read anything I have written. Lol.

EB: How did publishing your first book change your writing process?

Allisha: The first story I published was awful. It wasn’t edited, and it was a collaboration I had written with someone else. He had published it without talking to me about it and had published our first draft. After I published it on my side of things, I have been trying to perfect my published products. I have only been published for a couple of years now, so I am still learning the ropes.

EB: Is there anything else you would like readers to know about you?

Allisha: Just be patient with me as I try to learn the techniques and whatnots. Lol. Hopefully one day I’ll be a big name, and people will think gee, she has come a long way from when she was first published. I will continue to grow as an author as time progresses. Even as I finish my two latest projects, I have ideas for more stories!

EB: I can’t wait to check out more of your work! Thanks for being here today.

I hope you enjoyed reading this latest interview. I don’t know about you guys, but my reading list keeps growing with each one! I love supporting other authors. And don’t forget, if you do purchase a book, please make sure to leave a review. Reviews are like gold to us authors and help us know what works and what doesn’t work and what needs to be improved. I have two more author interviews lined up for the week, so please come back tomorrow for the next one. Thanks as always for your support! It’s time for me to start the final edit of my short story.  -E.B.
