Book Reviews: Yellow and Necrosis

Hey, guys. I hope everyone had a good week. My kids are out of school for the summer, so I spent the week trying to balance writing with keeping them entertained. I did manage to knock out a few chapters on my work in progress, though, and I’ve caught up a little on my reading list. Today, I have not one but two book reviews I would like to share. I just finished Yellow by Aron Beauregard and Necrosis by Rayne Havok. Here are my reviews:

“A fantastically brutal read.

Oliver Fitch lives in a constant state of terror as the neighborhood around the convenience store he owns and lives above devolves into another ghetto. The threat of violence is constant, and the authorities meant to serve and protect are part of the problem. Even his wife thinks him a spineless coward. After a home invasion leaves him scarred for life, Oliver is forced to stand by and watch as everything he cares about gets stripped away from him. But they also take away his fear. When Oliver realizes he has nothing left to lose, he becomes a force to be reckoned with in this epic tale of vengeance.

This book was so much more than I expected when I first started reading it. I mean, who doesn’t love a good revenge story? But this book is so much more than that, and the ending really blew me away. Aron Beauregard is a superb storyteller, and I can’t recommend this enough for Splatterpunk fans. I look forward to reading more of his work.”

“Another great story from Rayne Havok.

This story revolves around a strip club and its lovely owner, Tula. She’s not only drop-dead gorgeous but also a helluva dancer herself. When bodies start turning up, police chief Cunningham struggles to figure out exactly what happened to them. All clues point to the strip club, so he begins his investigation there…

I love Rayne’s writing style and her ability to pull you right into her stories. She keeps you on your toes, never knowing what to expect. I particularly enjoyed the twist ending in this one. Highly recommended for splatter fans!”

That’s all I have this week. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Happy Father’s Day in advance to any dads that may be reading this, or any who consider themselves as a father. You guys are the real superheroes in this world. I’ll be back next week with another blog post and hopefully another book review. Stay safe. -E.B.
