Hey, guys. I hope everyone had a good weekend. I spent most of mine writing and preparing for Christmas. It’s creeping closer every day. Due to the upcoming holiday, I will only be posting three interviews this week. I know, I know. It makes me sad, too. Don’t worry, though. I still have a few more for you next week. I’m also currently doing another book giveaway on my Facebook page for anyone who may be interested.
Today, I chatted with author Otis Bateman who recently released his debut novel, Maggot Girl Episode 1: A Maggoty Metamorphosis.

EB: Welcome, Otis. Thanks for joining us today. Can you tell us more about your debut novel and what inspired you to write it?
Otis: Maggot Girl is a sweet lass named Morticia, but in reality, she is me and vice versa. She is my depravity. A vessel to release my sickness into the world. I love her!
What inspired me originally was the Maggot Girl blog that’s infamous around different underground circles. It grew from that concept to a full-blown series that incorporates many different elements of debauchery that I’m interested in.
EB: It sure was a fun read. I can’t wait to read more. What was your favorite part to write?
Otis: Probably the scene where Morticia is having sex with the corpse. I got to think up some pretty heinous ideas and tried pushing the boundaries of depravity further…
EB: I liked the SA meeting scene, which leads to my next question. What other authors are you friends with, and how did they make you a better author?
Otis: I’m pretty good friends with Simon McHardy, Regina Watts, and Chandler Morrison. Chandler was the catalyst for me to start writing again. Dude is just amazing!
EB: What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
Otis: Reading, of course, is a big priority for me. I also like Twitter, Reddit, and The Splatter Club on Facebook.
EB: Who is your favorite author, and who is the biggest influence on your work?
Otis: My favorite author is Chandler Morrison. He influences me because he incorporates all of this soul-crushing violence and a really funny sense of humor pretty seamlessly.
EB: What’s your next project?
Otis: Next project is Episode 2 of Maggot Girl entitled Snuff Porn Holocaust. It will be bigger, meaner, and more brutal than the first installment so beware!
EB: Is there anything else you would like readers to know about you?
Otis: If I’m not upsetting or exciting you, then I’m not doing my job.
EB: Thanks again for being here and have a good week!
That’s all I have for today. Thanks for reading and see you next time! -E.B.
